Medellín Blooms in August: Experience the 2025 Feria de las Flores

Every August, Medellín bursts into color, tradition, and joy. The Feria de las Flores—one of Colombia’s most important cultural events—returns from August 2 to 11, 2025, with a vibrant schedule that celebrates Paisa identity, rural roots, and the city’s ability to bloom year after year.

More than just a tourist attraction, the Feria is a symbol of cultural resilience, pride in local traditions, and the contagious joy that defines the people of Antioquia. Whether you’re planning a quick getaway or want to experience it from the inside, here’s everything you need to know.

A Living Tribute to the Silleteros

The Feria began in 1957 as a tribute to the silleteros of Santa Elena—flower-growing farmers who carry large, handcrafted flower arrangements on their backs. The Silleteros Parade, now in its 69th edition, is the centerpiece of the celebration and one of Colombia’s most iconic cultural traditions.

In 2025, the parade will take place on Sunday, August 10, starting at the Puente de Guayaquil and ending at Plaza Mayor, amidst applause, music, and excitement.
