Agroexpo 2025: 50 Years Celebrating the Soul of the Colombian Countryside

Agroexpo

At Tierra Querida, we believe in the transformative power of the countryside—its stories, flavors, struggles, and achievements. That’s why we’re excited to announce the official launch of the 50th anniversary of Agroexpo, the most important agricultural fair in Latin America. We attended the press conference and bring you all the details about this great rural celebration, which will take over Corferias from July 9 to 20.

A Story That Vibrates from the Roots

The launch of Agroexpo 2025 was an emotional and symbolic journey. Surrounded by ruanas, recipes, seeds, and voices deeply rooted in the land, this edition promises more than numbers—it’s an experience meant to feel the countryside with all five senses.

Moderated by journalist Mauricio Vélez, the event gathered industry leaders, rural content creators, producers, and institutional representatives to discuss—like friends around a table—the present and future of Colombian agriculture.

12 Days to Reconnect with Who We Are

Agroexpo 2025 comes with powerful numbers:

  • 600 exhibitors
  • 3,000 live animals
  • 23 pavilions
  • 1,400 activities
  • Over 200,000 expected visitors

But beyond the numbers, this will be a tribute to those who cultivate the soul of the country every single day. As Marisol Suárez, Director of Fairs, said in her speech:
“This is a fair where the countryside is seen, heard, and felt. This year we’re going all in: more companies, more innovation, more experiences, and more rural pride.”

Looking to the Future: Innovation, Sustainability, and Rural Pride

One of the key themes of the press conference was sustainability. Álvaro Palacios, Executive President of Asohofrucol, highlighted that Colombian agriculture is moving toward more conscious practices:
“We’re going to show the world that we have an agroecological model that takes care of people. We have 80,000 producers who no longer use chemicals, cutting costs by 60% and increasing productivity.”

From a sectoral perspective, Daniel Espinosa Garcés, President of UNAGA, spoke about the evolution of livestock farming and the importance of platforms like Agroexpo:
“Here we see a livestock sector that is evolving—sustainable, responsible, and future-ready. Agroexpo is the bridge where the countryside modernizes without losing its essence.”

Some key events were also announced for the fair, including the World Brown Swiss Cattle Congress, the PorkCalidad Congress, the Agroexpo Innova Forum, and several multisector business matchmaking events.

Boyacá: Tradition That Evolves

During the official presentation, it was revealed that Boyacá will be the guest department. Elizabeth Bermúdez, Secretary of Agriculture, proudly shared the department’s vital role in national agricultural production:
“Our department has great climatic diversity. Out of 96 agricultural lines, we work with more than 35 tropical crop lines. We’re the country’s second-largest potato producer and a self-sustaining territory that contributes to national food security.”

New Voices That Inspire: The Power of Telling the Countryside’s Story

One of the most emotional moments of the event was the tribute to two rural content creators who have changed the way Colombian agriculture is communicated.

Julián Pinilla (@eldelaruana), visibly moved upon receiving his recognition, said:
“Today I wear the ruana with pride. The countryside pushes me to show who I am and where I come from. Every video tells a real story.”

Janeth Colmenares (@lamama.delasrecetas) shared from the heart:
“I grew up in a peasant kitchen, and with every recipe I want people to remember where our food comes from. The countryside is full of women who plant, cook, and sustain Colombia.”

Both represent a new narrative of Colombian rural life—more connected, more authentic, and more relatable to younger generations.

A Fair for Everyone: From Agro Experts to Urban Families

During the press conference, Doris Chingaté, Agroexpo’s Project Leader, emphasized that this is a fair for all audiences:
“We want everyone to experience the countryside in the city. Agroexpo is culture, technology, tradition, and future. The countryside doesn’t just feed us—it also moves and transforms us.”

There will be interactive zones, live experiences, livestock exhibitions, academic spaces, and a large children’s area. Agroexpo 2025 will be a space to learn, enjoy, and reconnect with who we are as a country.
